Over the next month we will preview the 42nd TD Bank Reedy River Run. Today we have six questions for Rock Hill, SC's Jonathan McGinnis, who will be included in our "elite" field. Jonathan recently placed 3rd in Greenville's Prisma Health Half Marathon with a time of 1:06:49.

How many years have you been running and why did you start?
I've been running for 18 years, beginning in 2001 as a 7th grader, and officially competing through high school.  I ran recreationally in college (did not compete), but picked up serious training in my mid 20's and now enjoy competitive running as a somewhat serious hobby!

What is your favorite running experience?
My favorite running experience (so far) has been last year's Boston Marathon!  The weather was atrocious, and I ran poorly based on my goal, but getting to take part in my first major marathon experience in such a historic event was incredible!

Where is your favorite venue to run locally?
I live in Rock Hill, SC so I have a limited local running experience in Greenville but I've run on the Swamp Rabbit trail a couple of times (and even raced on it once this year) and couldn't ask for a better spot to knock out a great long run!

Have you run TD Bank Reedy River Run previously?
I ran the TD Bank Reedy River Run way back in 2012 and loved the race!  I've put in lots of work and progressed quite a bit since then as a competitive runner, so I am really looking forward to coming back and putting myself into the race with the elites and seeing how I can do.

What is your favorite part of the course?
My favorite part of the course is either the long back side that winds through the park because it's so scenic, or it's the start right downtown because there's so much energy from the crowd packed into the streets!

Why are your running the TD Bank Reedy River Run?
I'm running the this year to put myself up against some of the most talented runners in the state (and the southeast).  It's a fantastic event a draws a very competitive field, plus it's an excuse to come run in a great city!
