Over the coming days we will preview the 42nd TD Bank Reedy River Run. Today we have six questions for Greenville's Victor Pataky, who will be included in our "elite" field. Victor moved to Greenville in August of 2018 to train and compete with ASICS Greenville Track Club-ELITE. He has run 30:03 for 10K and ran 2:22:17 while winning the 2018 GO! St. Louis Marathon, which was his first attempt at that distance. Victor currently is the Director/Coach of the GTC Rabbits, which is the Greenville Track Club's Youth Running Program.
How many years have you been running and why did you start?
This is my 13th year of competitive running. I began running in the 7th grade because I wanted to go out for a sport that everyone said was challenging. I enjoy pushing myself to be the best I can each and every day.
What is your favorite running experience?
My favorite running experience was the 2018 GO! St. Louis Marathon. This was my first time racing the distance and being able to do it and win in a community that I had connected with was amazing. The event was both a physical and spiritual adventure that I will never forget.
Where is your favorite venue to run locally?
I enjoy running on the Swamp Rabbit Trail-- particularly near downtown and at Falls Park. The scenery is beautiful there and there are soft surface options as well.
Have you run TD Bank Reedy River Run previously?
No, I have not. This will be my first time!
What is your favorite part of the course?
Even though I have not run it, I think I will enjoy the section in Cleveland Park. I am the coach of the GTC-Rabbits Youth Program and we practice there frequently. It's always nice to run around that area and be in a familiar place.
Why are you running the TD Bank Reedy River Run?
I am running the TD Bank Reedy River Run because I want to challenge myself against a very solid field of athletes. I also wish the represent ASICS-GTC Elite, the Greenville Track Club, and the local community in a positive way.
